7 Natural Nutrition Tips for Anti Aging

by Cindy Papp

Surgery is one measure you can take to ward off the signs of aging. But there is another, more natural way that can help stall the aging process. First, a lesson on how your body ages...

Your body constantly makes new cells every day. It uses building blocks called nutrients to create these cells. If your body isn't getting the nutrients it needs, it simply will not build new and healthy cells. In fact, it will make sub-quality cells instead, resulting in dull, thin skin, lack of energy and even a lowered immunity allowing degenerative disease to overcome.

Add to this the fact that we eat, breathe and even manufacture free radicals that further damage cells. Free radicals are linked to memory loss, less capacity to make new cells (regenerate), and degenerative disease such as cancer.

If you give your body the right nutrients in the right amounts, your body will make healthy, new cells. This is called regeneration. On the other hand, you can eat poor quality, processed, dead foods causing your body to make substandard cells. This is degeneration.

Fortunately, choices you make, such as diet, can help you avoid premature aging. The following are just a few anti aging nutrition tips to get you started on a path to longer, healthier living:

First you must eliminate junk foods that are full of free radicals and offer no nutrition that your body can utilize. These foods have no value or nutrition to offer. Then, synthetic vitamins, which cannot be processed by your body are added (like in "enriched" bread). This is a twofold problem as these foods add free radicals as they create a nutritional deficit causing the premature breakdown of our bodies, including skin aging, hair and muscle loss, and disease.

Essential Fatty Acids like those found in avocadoes and olive and flax seed oil have numerous anti aging nutrition qualities. Consuming EFAs has been shown to ward off depression, lower risk of heart disease, stimulate the immune system, and inhibit the growth of cancer cells. In addition EFAs will give your body the nutrients it needs for sleek, supple skin and healthy hair and is even known to help balance hormones.

You can eat the foods mentioned in addition to fish such as wild salmon. For extra power, use an EFA, or Essential Fatty Acid supplement which contains a variety of oils that each have unique nutritive qualities.

Other good sources of EFAs are borage and evening primrose oil, which are best known to balance hormones. Flax oil helps lubricate the digestive tract and can help stimulate natural peristalsis. Avocadoes are excellent for skin nourishment.

Antioxidants are an important part of anti aging nutrition. Research has shown that diets rich in antioxidants prevent disease and premature aging. They stimulate the immune system, protect the nervous system and brain from damage associated with memory loss, and fight cell damaging free-radicals.

Foods that are ranked with the highest antioxidant activity are: kale, spinach, raisins, prunes, blueberries, strawberries and blackberries.

Parsley is packed full of nutrients and aids your body's oxygen metabolism. It aids your adrenal glands, which manufacture and release necessary hormones that keep your body working and balanced. Eat it raw or add it to fresh juice.

Cucumbers should be eaten daily or added to fresh juice. They are full of natural mineral water and are a diuretic to help your kidneys eliminate waste. This in turn can neutralize blood acid which is linked to disease.

Cherries, grapefruit and celery help to dislodge calcium deposits from the joints, which helps alleviate the symptoms of arthritis. Cherries are packed full of antioxidants and celery contains natural sodium which helps regulate heartbeat.

To sum up anti aging nutrition, avoid the obvious wrong foods and curb the questionable ones. Remember that too much meat and processed foods are associated with degenerative disease. Junk food not only will leave you nutritionally depleted, but are the opposite of anti-aging nutrition because they can help speed up the damage to your cells and diminish your capacity to make new ones.

On the other hand, the more raw, organic fruits and vegetables you eat, the better. These by far contain the most anti-aging nutrition with no toxins to damage your youthful cells. Fresh juice made with fruits and veggies will give you more nutritional benefit than any pill. They will help your body manufacture healthy, fresh new cells every minute of your life.

Every time you consume these anti aging foods, you are making a deposit in your anti aging nutrition vault, so you can live a long, youthful and healthy life.
