Statewide

  • Alaska Sled Dog Rescue - Dedicated to finding permanent, loving homes for Alaskan sled dogs who are either retired from the race or those pups that may just be more couch dog than sled dog.
  • Alaska Purebred Rescue - Helps find new homes for dogs such as Chihuahuas, German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Italian Greyhounds, Miniature Pinschers, Pugs, Dalmatians and more.
  • Alaskan Klee Kai Association of America - The Alaskan Klee Kai is yet a rare breed with a limited number of breeders and owners, making the need for rescue a small one. Many breeders have participated in rescue to cover these needs over the years. As the breed continues to grow so will the need for rescue. Alaskan Klee Kai Association of American in preparation for these growing needs has formed AKKAOA's Alaskan Klee Kai Rescue, Rehabilitation & Re-homing League. It is our hope to not only provide basic rescue for the AKK but to be able to rehabilitate possible "problem" dogs and to re-home them in a responsible manor.
  • Golden Retriver Rescue of Fairbanks - They do statewide rescue. They are a group of dedicated volunteers who work hard at placing unwanted, neglected or relinquished Golden Retriever and Retriever mixes (and lots of dogs with "golden" personalities) into new loving family settings. Often the dogs come from the Animal Shelter and sometimes from families that must relinquish them due to personal hardship. All dogs have a full physical exam (done by an outside clinic), are spayed or neutered, have vaccines updated, hips x-rayed and are wormed.
  • Stop the Overpopulation of Pets, Inc. - Dedicated to paying for spaying and neutering of dogs and cats in order to eliminate the killing of healthy, adoptable pets at Alaska's animal control centers. They also educate about pet care, pet-related issue, training, pet overpopulation and other concerns in order to better the lives of pet owners, pets and the community.

Anchorage

  • Alaska Humane Society Adopt-A-Cat - A no-kill and non-profit cat shelter currently taking care of about 200 cats. All are spayed/neutered, vaccinated. Staffed entirely by volunteers and are funded entirely by donations.
  • Alaska Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals - An Alaskan organization and not affiliated with any other SPCA or organization. They are privately funded, never had any large grants or governmental monies. They depend on sales from their Thirft Shop, donations and moral support.
  • Chinchilla Rescue - Willing to give unwanted chinchillas a loving, healthy, forever home.
  • Friends of Pets - This organization was formed in 1989 to advocate on behalf of animals in Animal Control. They are a non-profit organization providing services including an adoption hotline at 561-3677, a pet request file for people looking for a specific type of pet, spay/neuter assistance, the pet patrol picture of an adoptable pet in the paper each week and educational programs in the schools.
  • Kitty & K-9 Connection - A non-profit 501 3(C) animal rescue/foster/adoption group located in Anchorage.

Big Lake

  • Mat-Su Humane Society - Dogs and cats available for adoption. Donations of all kinds are needed to finish ongoing projects such as providing better living conditions for the animals, fencing and beautification projects. All donations go directly to the Humane Society.

Eagle River

  • Homes for Huskies - Assists others with the placement of huskies in loving, stable homes specially suited for these unique dogs.

Fairbanks

  • Golden Retriever Rescue of Fairbanks - They do statewide rescue.
