Animal Rescues and Shelters in Arkansas

Statewide

  • Nebraska Boston Terrier Rescue (NE, CO, IA, MO, KS, SD, WY, MN) - Located in Omaha, NE, NBTR is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization that operates to rescue Boston Terrier that are surrendered, unwanted, homeless, mistreated, neglected, stray or slated for euthanasia no matter thir health, condition or age. Boston Terrier mixes are considered on an individual basis. All Boston Terriers are spayed/neutered, tested negative for heartworm, vaccinated and any other medical needs taken care of before being ready for adoption. A completely fenced in yard is required to qualify for adopting.

  • Lone Pine Ranch Animal Shelter - Located in Centerton, AR, LPRAS is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization since May 2003. Shelter currently houses about 70 dogs, 40-50 cats and several kittens. In need of supplies, volunteers and foster homes. Please help them if you can.

Clarksville
  • Needy Paws Animal Shelter - A non-profit orgganization that is an extension of the Humane Society of Johnson County. They also contract with Clarksville city to handle their animal control dogs and with Lamar to shelter their animal control dogs.

Fayetteville
  • Fayetteville Animal Shelter - See also Fayetteville Animal Services - Committed to bettering the quality of life for the citizens of our city and for the animals which share our lives. We enforce the laws, rescue lost or mistreated or injured animals, work toward the goal of ending the serious overpopulation by encouraging spaying and neutering, educate citizens about responsible pet ownership. An officer is on duty 24 hours a day to assist in any emergency.
  • Ozark Mountain Basset Rescue Inc - A 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, all volunteer organization, OMBR is dedicated to placing Bassets in our care into loving and dedicated forever homes. OMBR does not have kennels. Rescued dogs stay in foster homes, where they receive vet care, nutritious food and love. Dogs are evaluated by a vet and receive any treatment necessary. All dogs are spayed/neutered and placed on heartworm preventative before going to their adopted home. In addition, foster homes provide a personality evaluation of each dog to ensure a better match between dog and prospective forever homes.

Fort Smith
  • Pets-Haven - Fall in love with Pets Haven. Please be sure to visit this site. They are a private, no-kill, non-profit animal rescue. Founded 12 years ago, but rescue efforts go back as far as 27 years. They rescue primarily feral and stray cats but take in stray dogs, whenever space is available.

Greenland
  • Animal Haven Rescue Inc. - A private, non-profit, 501(c)3, no-kill shelter dedicated to the rescue of abandoned, abused and neglected animals, providing a safe and secure place for dogs and cats awaiting homes. Over the years, they have helped hundreds of animals find the loving homes they deserve. All animals are checked for heartworm, vaccinated, spayed/neutered and receive any necessary surgeries. They eat a quality diet and are given flea, tick and heartworm prevention treatments and any additional medical attention they require. All animals must be spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before leaving the shelter.

Harrison
  • Got Hedgehogs?! Rescue - We rescue hedgehogs from all types of situations. We have had hedgehogs for over 11 years and been official rescuers for over four years. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to the well being of hedgehogs.

Jonesboro
  • Northeast Arkansas Humane Society - A private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of all animals. Established 1971. Offers a Pet Photo Gallery, Lost and Found, pet safety tips and more.

Little Rock
  • Central Arkansas Rescue Effort for Animals (CARE for Animals) - They are an animal rescue that provides medical care and places animals facing impending euthanasia into foster and permanent homes. As of 12/04 they have helped save the lives of 1698 dogs and cats; provided over 2050 free sterilizations for pets from limited income families; and provided over 500 feral cat sterilizations.
  • Independent Dog Rescue Of Arkansas - A 501(c)(3) non-profit all volunteer organization that specializes in the rescue and adoption of dogs and puppies in Little Rock and central Arkansas. We also help to adopt out dogs for owners who are unable to keep them, and provide adoption assistance for rescuers of stray dogs.

  • Columbia County Animal Protection Society - A non-profit organization that provides temporary humane care, food, water, shelter and medical attention for stary, homeless, abandoned, neglected and abused animals in Columbia County.

Marshall

Mena
  • For the Sake of Animals - A non-profit shelter for the homeless animals in the heart of the Ouachita Mountains in Mena, AR dedicated to the sheltering of stray and unwanted dogs, cats and horses. They also sponsor a spay program. Currently over 50 dogs and 60 cats reside at the shelter along with several horses and a donkey.
  • Helping Hands for Little Paws - Established in 1995, they have become the premier rescue organization in central Arkansas. They have saved thousands of pets from death row from central Arkansas shelters, such as Little Rock Animal Services, Benton Animal Control, Conway Animal Control, Jacksonville Animal Control, Cabot Animal Control, Beebe Animal Control, Sherwood Animal Control and many others.

Newark
  • Ozland Horse Rescue - We are located in North Central Arkansas, at the foot of the Ozarks. We are dedicated to saving horses from starvation and abuse. We also try to buy horses from sales that would otherwise go to slaughter. And we will take in any unwanted horse if we can find a way to get it here. We also try to take in unwanted race horses in danger of being put down.

Osceola
  • Osceola Animal Shelter - Provides essential animal services to the City through enforcing State Law and City Ordinances. We are a municipal animal control shelter that works in coordination with volunteers dedicated together to place unwanted animals into responsible homes, return lost animals to their owners, and reduce the number of animals which must be humanely euthanized.
