  • Friends of Rescued Mastiffs, Inc. (FORM) Rescue & Placement Service - Available to provide re-homing services to purebred Mastiffs. Dogs are accepted from their owners, shelters, as well as other rescue organizations. We focus on, above all, proper temperament for the Mastiffs that we place. Our organization is a fully incorporated charitable animal welfare organization that has tax-deductible IRS 501(c)3 status. All contributions go directly to the Mastiffs in need.
  • Midwest Boxer Rescues - The purpose of this coalition is to help people in the Midwest U.S. find a Boxer to adopt and to coordinate the rescue and care of dogs in need. Boxer rescue organizations throughout Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska work together to rescue and place dogs in loving, permanent homes. All these groups operate as not-for-profit entities, and each has particular requirements for prospective homes.
  • Midwest Pug Rescue (KS, MO, NE, IA, MN) - We are a rescue that takes in pugs and pug mixes. We take pugs regardless of age or health and will either adopt them out or keep them in foster homes. A very sweet, caring pug rescue.

Auburn

  • Second Chance Animal Refuge Society (SCARS) - Dogs only. A no-kill, refuge organization for dogs. As a non-profit, 501(c)(3) Animal Rescue Organization, we work to provide love, shelter, and veterinary care to abused and abandoned dogs in the eastern Kansas area. It is our mission to find them a permanent, loving and healthy home, or temporary accommodations until a permanent home becomes avail-able. All of our dogs are assessed and treated by a vet immediately upon arrival. Shots are updated, and the dogs are neutered or spayed prior to joining the rest of our friends.

Chanute

  • Chanute Animal Shelter - The Chanute Animal Control Department is a service provided by the City of Chanute, Kansas. Dedicated to animal safety and health, public safety and owner education.

Cheney

  • Eagle Valley Raptor Center - Specializes in native Kansas Birds of Prey. These include Eagles, Hawks, Owls, Kites, Falcons and Vultures. It is our great pleasure to help these animals become independent again and return back to their natural way of life.

Independence

  • Do Re Mi Doggies - Do Re Mi Doggies was started as a dog advocate/dog rescue in 2006. The main purpose of Do Re Mi Doggies is to help owners of dogs to rehome their animal - By getting the dog into a breed rescue or mixed breed rescue - By avoiding having to surrender the dog to a shelter where it would be in danger of being put down As an advocate, Do Re Mi Doggies can assist you in locating the appropriate rescue or rescue contact infomation. Do Re Mi Doggies does not have a shelter and, very rarely, takes dogs into foster care.

Kansas City

  • Animals' Resource Fund (ARF) - We always have a lot of great dogs and cats who are looking for good homes. We are only able to approve adoptions in the Kansas City Area. Because of our charter we cannot make any exceptions to this rule.
  • Humane Society of Greater Kansas City - Founded in 1912, we are the oldest existing humane society in metropolitan Kansas City. In 1994 we became the first no-kill shelter in Kansas City. We find homes for over 97% of the pets in our care. Only pets with severe medical or behavioral problems are euthanized, and we have no set time limits for how long a pet may stay. Pets are examined by one of our staff veterinarians upon arrival and treated for any medical problems they may have while at our shelter.
  • Kansas City Siamese Rescue - A no-kill, non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned Siamese Cats and other select breeds. Our ultimate goal is to find permanent, forever homes for these wonderful animals where they will be cherished and loved for the rest of their lives.
  • Mo-Kan Border Collie Rescue (KS, MO)- A 501(c)3 non-profit organization head quartered in the greater Kansas City area, serving Kansas, Missouri and parts of the midwest. They take in abandoned and unwanted Border Collies and place them in appropriate, permanent loving homes.

Lecompton

  • Keeshond Lovers United, Inc (KS, MO, NE, MN) - An all volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, foster care and placement of Keeshonden, and, occasionally other breeds in the Midwest. These dogs and puppies come from area shelters, owner turn-ins, puppy mills and abusive situations. Each dog is placed into a foster home and is evaluated for health, temperament and personality. All dogs are spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and treated if necessary and brought up-to-date on all shots. Then, each lucky dog goes to its forever home after references and home visits are complete.

Manhattan

  • Home for Disposable Pets - We are a licensed Rescue Shelter in the state of Kansas. We are a group of animal lovers that volunteer our time and talents to help homeless pets find new homes. We also list animals that are still with their owner but for one reason or another can no longer keep them. All of OUR dogs & cats are home fostered, not in a shelter. We work on housebreaking and basic manners as well. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm checked (treated if positive), up to date on vaccinations and on monthly preventatives. Dogs that require additional medical care, including dentals, lab work or additional surgical procedures are also done as necessary.
  • T. Russell Reitz Regional Animal Shelter - Run by the City of Manhattan and serves Manhattan, Riley County, Ogden, and Pottawatomie County in Kansas. We reunite lost animals with their owners, place previously unwanted animals in new homes, enforce local animal ordinances, investigate welfare and cruelty reports, provide education concerning pet ownership, and promote spaying and neutering of companion animals. Our staff are dedicated, trained animal professionals, with the public and the animals best interests in mind.

Overland Park

  • Mid-America Bully Breed Rescue - Founded by two Kansas dog lovers who faced dozens of homeless pit bulls daily that had to be turned away for lack of space and funding, Kansas Pit Bull Rescue was formed to assist pit bull type dogs in high-kill animal control facilities in the Midwest. With significant help from supporters and donors, KPR has placed over a hundred needy Pit Bulls into responsible forever homes.

Paola

  • BassetsRus Retirement Ranch, Inc - Established to care for the many retired age bassets that come into rescue. BassetsRus primarily works with rescues & shelters to assist older and special needs hounds in need of a good home. We will also care for some younger special needs hounds that owners have to relinquish. If you are a owner that needs to relinquish your Basset we will try to assist you.

Solomon

  • TLC Greyhound Adoption - Works with farm and kennel owners and operators in the Solomon and Abilene, KS area to place greyhounds in need of adoptive homes. In January 2000, we began the Kansas Correctional Facility Greyhound Project together with the Kansas Department of Corrections. An all volunteer, tax-exempt, 501(c)3, non-profit organization. We have no paid staff and we receive no public funds. All donations go directly for the care, feeding, and adoption of greyhounds.

Topeka

  • Tall Grass Parrot Sanctuary, Inc. - A 501(c)(3) not for profit organization, we do not breed, sell, or adopt out any bird that comes through our doors. They will live out the rest of their lives here, with dignity and respect.
