Green Pen - it's biodegradable
Green Pen

The Green Pen is a natural, useful and high quality medium that will spread the word about your environmental responsibility. It looks, feels and writes just like a regular ballpoint pen, but the pen (not the ink refill) will disintegrate in about 12 months after being thrown away. Is that cool or what?

The World's First Biodegradable Pen

Corn! Yes, corn! This is what the Green Pen is made from. Except for the ink refill, the Green Pen is made from Mater-Bi, a revolutionary new material derived from cornstarch. Mater-Bi is remarkably similar to ordinary plastic, with one important exception: it is completely biodegradable. This means that unlike conventional plastics which never breakdown, Mater-Bi products will distintegrate in about 12 months after being thrown away. This breakdown occurs in soil, composters, landfills, waterbeds and waste treatment systems where micro-organisms attack Mater-Bi just as they do other organic materials.

Award Winning Quality

In 1992, the Green Pen was chosen as the official pen of the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, and was awarded the Oscar prize at "Eureka," the world fair of inventions in Brussels. Award winning quality and features have been built into the Green Pen right from the beginning. With ISO-9000 dertification, a top quality refill, constant attention to details like a safety cap and attractive design, the Green Pen is a true environmentally friendly alternative.
