Dog Breeds for Allergies - Which Breed Is Best for People with Allergies?

by Julia Carter

If you are usually allergic to dogs or one of your family members is, it is the wisest idea to look for dog breeds suitable for people with allergies.

While there are no breeds that cause no allergies for anyone at all, there are a good number of breeds that are usually safe and cause fewest allergies. These breeds are much safer for allergic children too.

Dogs that have the least possibility to cause allergies are called hypo-allergenic dogs.

Many people whose children have some type of allergy and can't be around normal dog breeds, notice their children have no problem with hypo-allergenic breeds and so can keep these dogs.

Usually it is because they have less body hair and so shed less fur. Also if they have a thick single coat, that is usually a plus too.

Also smaller dogs are usually better for people with allergies because they less saliva than bigger dogs.

Editor Note: An allergy test is recommended before buying any breed where allergies or asthma are a problem.
