Stella and Chewy's steaks for dogs
Stella & Chewy Steaks for Dogs

The freeze-dried steaks contain the same ingredients as fresh steaks, but without the moisture. They provide all the convenience of a conventional dry food without compromising the nutritional value of real meat. Rich in Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids and probiotics, the beef steaks are made with USDA-inspected free range beef (muscle meat), beef bone, beef liver and beef heart. The Chicken & Veggie Steaks are made with USDA-inspected free range chicken (including ground bone), apples, sweet potatoes, celery, broccoli, organic kelp, organic alfalfa, organic flaxseed, blueberries, ginger and garlic. Both are fortified with vitamins and minerals, to ensure your dog has a balanced meal. Available in two sizes: 9 steaks and 32 steaks.

What's wrong with dry kibble and canned food?

Commercial pet food is one of the most highly processed foods on the planet. Cooked at extreme temperatures (212 degrees or higher), much of its nutritional value is killed by the heat, including enzymes and amino acids that your pet needs. Harmful chemical additives are used to extend the shelf life and improve the appearance of the food. And most importantly, the quality of ingredients used in commercial dry and canned pet food is extremely poor. They are high in grains and low in protein. Yet dogs and cats are carnivores (dogs being more omnivore) - the protein they need most and utilize best comes from meat.

What are the benefits of a raw food diet?

A raw food diet provides your pet with exactly the kinds of food that they would naturally seek out in the wild. "Nothing can replace wholesome foods in their natural, unrefined state," says Henry Pasternak, DVM. Raw foods contain WHOLE nutritional complexes, and the nutrients in raw foods are totally bio-available. That means that your pet can easily absorb the nutrients they need and excrete what they don't need. As a rule, the closer to the natural source food is, the healthier it will be.

A raw food diet will also help improve your pet's oral hygiene. The idea that feeding dry food is a good way to control tartar in the mouth is a myth. Raw foods, however, create healthy saliva because of the undestroyed natural digestive enzymes in the food. Healthy pet saliva helps prevent tartar buildup, tooth decay and bad breath.

Why is Stella & Chewy's the best choice for your dog?

Stella & Chewy's uses only free-range, USDA-inspected, approved-for-human-consumption meats and the freshest produce, organic where possible, with real bone ground in (not bonemeal). They do not "water down" the nutritional content of their food by packing it full of grains that your dog does not need and cannot fully utilize.

Stella & Chewy's Farm Fresh contains no preservatives, no chemicals, no hormones or antibiotics, no dyes or colorings and no sugar or salt. Their food meets the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for all Life Stages.

How fresh is farm fresh? And is it safe to feed my pet raw food?

Stella & Chewy's is fresh-frozen or freeze-dried for optimal nutrients and bio-availability, rich in omega-6 fatty acids and probiotics, and free of hormones and antibiotics. Once prepared, Stella & Chewy's is instantly falsh frozen to minus 20 degrees, protecting all available nutrients and enzymes and ensuring freshness and superior quality. This is the same blast freezing process used in the commercial meat packing industry to eliminate parasitic pathogens in the human food supply. Stella & Chewy's is tested and temperature-controlled to ensure bacteria levels are neither excessive nor invasive.

What is freeze-dried food?

Stella & Chewy's freeze-dried foods are made of the same healthy ingredients as their frozen foods. Freeze drying protects the foods nutritional value by removing the moisture while still frozen. Once the product is packaged there is no need for refrigeration. The food is easy to use as a meal or a treat and is ideal for travel and training.

But it's more expensive...

Stella & Chewy's Farm Fresh costs more because it is real food. Just as with humans, what you feed your pet directly affects his/ her health. "Feeding cheaply may cost you more in the long run - in veterinary bills," says Martin Zucker, in The Veterinarian's Guide to Natural Remedies for Dogs.

Feeding your pet fresh, wholesome food is a smart way to prevent health problems. Your pet will be happier and healthier - now and in the future!

How to transition your pet to a raw-food diet

To safely transition your pet to a raw food diet, we recommend mixing the new food with their existing food for the first two weeks.

Start switching 1/4 of the diet to the new raw food. After 4 days, go to 1/2. After another 4 days, 3/4 of your pet's diet should be the raw food. At 12 days, switch over entirely.
