What is DEA?
DEA stands for diethanolamine, which is used as an emulsifier and foaming agent in shampoos. It has been reported that there is a correlation between cancer and the topical application of diethanolamine and certain other DEA-related ingredients in laboratory animals. The presence of DEA can also lead to formation of nitrosamines, which are powerful carcinogens. Many nitrosamines have been reported to cause cancer in laboratory animals and have also been linked with human cancer.
