Choosing the right holistic products for your pets
Many of the products offered by Robbins Pet Care are meant to replace vital nutrients lost during the processing of your pet's food. Regardless of price, the cooking, canning and processing techniques destroy these nutrients.
We are continually hearing warnings of eating too much processed food in our own diets. This same principle applies to your pet. What if someone tried to sell you a bag or can of food and said it was perfect and all you ever needed to eat again to maintain optimal health?
In this article you will find a few recommendations to help you make the decision you feel is best for you. Do not be afraid to try different companies and their products. The animals at Robbins Pet Care have tasted and approved our products. Some products that are of fine quality are not carried by us due to numerous "paws down" reviews from our four-legged reviewers.

Cooking destroys all enzymes and probiotic bacteria as well as up to 100% of water soluable vitamins (C and Folic acid) and 40% of fat soluable vitamins. Additionally, carbohydrates and minerals are less available; fats can become rancid; protein structures are altered; and amino acids are lost.
Nupro Dog and Cat Supplements -- for overall better health of your pet
This is a good multi-vitamin approach to supplementing much of the nutrition lost during processing. This is our easiest product to boost your pet's health through nutrition. A scoop of the dog supplement mixed with water makes a delicious gravy that dogs love. (Just add the supplement and a bit of water to your dog's kibbles and stir.) For cats, simply sprinkle in your cat's kibble or crush and mix it into their canned food.
Note: The cat formula looks a lot like rabbit food. It was designed to mix easily with dry food, because some cats only eat dry food. And some people feed feral cats (usually dry food). The pellets crush very easily to mix with softfood. (It takes us a few seconds of smashing with the backside of a spoon.) Most importantly, none of our cats (most being the usual finicky type) have ever turned their noses up at this supplement or the following products.
Animal Essentials -- for overall better health of your pet
Combine Animal Essentials Herbal Multi-Vitamin & Mineral Powder, Omega 3 Plus and Plant Enzymes & Probiotics for a very powerful supplement program that replaces the vital nutrients lost during commercial pet foods processing. This combination costs a little more than the Nupro supplement, but we feel it is second to a raw food diet in nutritional value.
Both companies listed above use human-grade all natural ingredients.
Nzymes Products -- for rebuilding and strengthening a weakened digestive system
For bad cases of Candida albicans (the yeast organism that easily throws the digestive system out of whack -- due to stress, poor diet and/or use of antibiotics. Learn more.), the company Nzymes has a superb line of products that help combat this condition. If there has been a known systemic yeast infection for quite some time, we recommend a combination treatment of their Tincture of Black-Leaf and Oxy-Drops. To assist the good bacteria regaining hold of the digestive system, add Nzymes Antioxidant Treats or Granules and Bac-Pak Plus to their diet. The use of these products together will be far more effective.
Combine Oxy-Drops with probiotics (i.e., Bac-Pak Plus or Animal Essentials Plant Enzymes & Probiotics) and enzymes (i.e., Granules or Antioxidant Treats) to combat yeast, bacterial and viral conditions. Oxy-Drops is a powerful anti-oxidant that oxygenates the blood. When diluted, Oxy-Drops also serves as a topical disinfectant. (Editor note: It has worked remarkably well for one of our cats with a chronic ear infection -- when nothing else had worked.)
Not sure whether to use their Treats or Granules? We have found dogs are quite happy with the treats. Our "taste tester" cats are a little finickier, but had no problem eating the treats when crumbled into their food. Pricewise, Granules offer a better deal if you know you are going to be using this type of product as part of an ongoing maintenance program.

- Oxy-Drops - Aids the body to destroy the bad bacteria
- Tincture of Black-Leaf - Powerful anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic supplement that can be used alone or with Oxy-Drops for getting a jumpstart on fighting candida
- Bac-Pak Plus - Probiotic & enzyme supplement; aids the body in rebuilding the good bacteria (you cannot have a good digestive system by just killing off the bad bacteria)
- Granules - Enzyme supplement; aids in absorption and digestion (Bad breath? Smelly gas? These are signs that food is putrifying in the gut. Enzymes will help break down the food.)
- Antioxidant Treats - Enzyme supplement similar to Granules, but formulated as a "treat"
